Restaurant sofa BASIC II

BASIC II is BASIC with a different kind of back. Instead of a smooth surface it has buttoning with upholstery buttons, that is, fabric sewn and drawn in around the buttons.

Measurements, construction and foam are identical to the base model. The only thing that changes is the finish of the back and therefore the price, because buttoning takes extra work in the sewing.

What the buttoning does

A long, smooth back along a wall can look flat, especially in a single dark colour and under diffused light. The buttons divide the surface into fields and create a play of light, so that the piece becomes part of the interior rather than a covered ledge.

The effect becomes clearer the longer the run. At a single seat against a wall the difference is small. Over a run of six metres or more the difference is visible from anywhere in the room.

Measurements and price

The difference against BASIC is 250 NOK per linear metre. Over a run of six metres that is 1 500 NOK on the whole order, which is less than a move to a more expensive fabric usually costs.

When to choose BASIC II, and when BASIC

BASIC II makes sense where the seating is visible and should add something to the room: a room exposed towards the entrance, a run along the window, a venue with a plain interior where the furniture is one of few elements.

BASIC holds up where the piece only has to do its job: the back of the room, a cramped pub with high turnover, a place where the seating is hidden behind the tables for most of the day. BASIC is also the only model we have in black in standard sizes with fast delivery, so with an opening date close at hand it is sometimes the only possible choice.

The third variant in the family, BASIC MAX, has a smooth back like BASIC, only taller, 100 cm instead of 75. It costs 1 700 NOK per linear metre, that is, 50 NOK less than BASIC II.

Construction and fabric

The foam has a density meant for continuous use and is the same as in the other variants in the family. The buttoning does not change the comfort, because it concerns the finish of the back, not the filling.

For serving venues we choose fabric with an abrasion resistance of at least 40 000 Martindale, and most of the range sits above 100 000. When ordering with buttoning, tell us how often and with which products the room is cleaned, since that affects the choice of material.

Lead time and ordering

Orders made to measure take roughly four to six weeks from the moment payment is registered. We take orders from 1 linear metre, and before production we ask for at least 50 per cent of the value against a proforma invoice.
