Furniture for nightlife venues, pubs and clubs

That is worth knowing when you compare quotations, because two price lists describing a “club sofa” and a “VIP bench” can cover exactly the same piece, only counted differently: per piece or per linear metre. We count per linear metre.

The VIP area earns twice

A club earns from the VIP area twice: once on the table itself, and once on the fact that guests want to show that table off. The sofa decides both at the same time, because it is the background in every picture that leaves the area.

So on orders for nightlife venues we talk about abrasion resistance, and separately about how the piece looks on a phone in poor light. Those are two different criteria, and they rarely point to the same model.

From four people to twelve, without calling a fitter

The modules are drawn so that they can be rearranged for a group of four and for twelve with table service, without a fitting team each time. We make the modules up to 1.4 linear metres, as standard 1 metre and 1.2 metres.

That length is not an accident. A module of up to 1.4 metres passes through ordinary doors and stairwells, so changing the layout does not mean taking the furniture apart.

Three models for a nightlife venue and what they cost

By the dance floor the furniture wears from above, not from the seat

Not from people sitting, but from people leaning, putting glasses on the back and squeezing between the sofa and the table. So in venues with a dance floor we reinforce the top edge of the back and the corners of the modules.

Those are points that in an ordinary restaurant hold for years without reinforcement. By the dance floor they work from the first weekend, so the construction is drawn for that pattern and not for an average.

The edge of the seat wears first

The edge is where we start the reinforcement, because it is the part that works every time someone slides along the seat. A double seam in the corner lasts considerably longer than a single one, and the price difference in the order is symbolic against what it costs to replace seats after two seasons.

The foam is chosen at a density meant for continuous use, not for a living room. Cheap foam loses its spring after a few months at that rhythm.

Stage lighting changes the colour more than the sample shows

Under a coloured spot navy can turn black, and bottle green can turn grey. That is the most common reason for disappointment when an order for a nightlife venue is handed over, and the only one that cannot be predicted from a desk.

So we send fabric samples before you decide, within one to two working days after the call, and we ask that they be looked at on site with the stage lighting on. Not by the window and not in the daytime, but exactly under the conditions in which the guests will see the piece.

Cleaning wears the furniture faster than the guests do

The cleaners work fast and have no time to be careful, so the fabric has to survive a cleaning product used every night. None of the fabrics we propose for serving venues sits below 40 000 Martindale cycles, and most pass 100 000.

We lay the seams so that they do not collect liquid. Good quality faux leather wins over velour here, because it is wiped off with a damp cloth. In the zones by the bar we advise against light fabrics, since a spilt drink stays whatever the quality of the material.

When the fabric is not in our sample collection

Before you conclude that we do not have it, ask. We hold hundreds of samples, and among them are things that are not shown on the website. If you are still looking for a particular texture or colour outside that collection, we check whether it can be sourced from elsewhere.

That adds a step to the order, but it gives the result that was intended rather than the nearest available approximation. We also sew in fabric supplied by the client, when the architect is running the whole interior in one collection.

Upholstered walls in the same fabric

We also upholster walls in a material chosen for the seats. Beyond the look it has a practical effect: a soft surface damps the reflections, so people can talk at the table without raising their voices.

In a venue where the music runs all night that is the difference between a table guests stay at and one they leave after a quarter of an hour. What it looks like in practice you can see at Klub 7 Nebo in Brno, where the sofas, the walls and the staircase are all covered in fabric.

If you are opening several venues, the fabric comes from one batch

If you open several venues at the same time, colour is a more serious matter than it looks. Furniture fabric is produced in batches, and a batch ordered six months later can differ in shade from the first.

So we reserve the material from one batch straight away, for every site. The same colour and the same measurements in each venue, whichever opens first.

The furniture is carried in after the floors and walls, not before

The opening date is often announced before the building work is finished, so production is planned around progress on the electrics and the surfaces.

We plan the delivery for the point when the floors and walls are finished. Upholstery carried in earlier picks up scratches from the finishing work, and on light fabrics traces of building dust that cannot be removed. It is one of the few things in the process that cannot be repaired afterwards.

A nightlife venue is refurbished in stages, not every ten years

The main room and the VIP rooms usually move at their own pace. So we plan the choice of models and fabrics in a way that lets a module bought in two years be matched to the rest.

We have been in the furniture trade since 2005 and deliver more than 50 orders a year, so we know which solutions survive night operation and which only look good in the photo from assembly day.

Nightlife venues we have furnished

At Klub Hype in Szczecin we covered the VIP area with CHESTERFIELD, and the furniture for the VIP rooms we drew from scratch together with the interior architect. At Złota Bila in Blue City in Warsaw, a billiards centre, we made sofas, chairs and bar stools, and the furniture separates the playing area from the serving area.

At Klub 7 Nebo in Brno the whole interior went the same way: sofas, upholstered walls and a covered staircase.

What we need in order to price a VIP area

Send a floor plan of the room with the dance floor, the bar and the VIP area marked, or a photo with measurements on the walls. Tell us as well which group sizes the area should be divided into: four, eight or twelve people.
