Custom made furniture for serving venues

A sloping wall, an alcove, a column in the middle of the passage and an angle that is not ninety degrees are all situations where a finished piece either leaves square metres unused or forces a compromise in the table layout. Made to measure, we build everything that is variable in the piece: the length, the shape and the fabric are chosen for that particular room.

The work starts with numbers, not with a visualisation

We measure walls, window heights, the position of sockets and radiators, door widths and the turn in the stairwell. The last of those is often the most important, because it decides how the piece is divided into modules.

A six metre run arrives in parts whatever happens. Where the joints end up decides how the finished piece looks, so we plan that on the drawing and not during assembly.

How the shape affects the price

Not every change costs something. Below are four cases we price differently.

Shortening a module by a few centimetres, cutting a recess for a column, changing the back height on one run in the room or finishing the row with a rounded end is not a separate paid option. It is part of the design work, because we decide the cut of the fabric and the construction of the frame ourselves, in our own factory.

The starting point is always a proven model

We rebuild one of our models for the particular room, rather than drawing a piece of furniture from scratch. That shortens both the time and the cost.

A construction that has already stood in dozens of venues carries solutions behind it that a new design would first have to arrive at. You will find the base measurements on the model pages, and we change what the room requires.

Modules are drawn for the way into the venue, not only for the wall

We make the modules at a maximum of 1.4 linear metres, as standard 1 metre or 1.2. That length comes straight from ordinary doors and stairwells.

If the furniture has to go up to the first floor, this is usually the only constraint that really shapes the construction. Smaller orders travel on EUR pallets door to door, larger ones on our own vehicle, so the whole set arrives in one run and unloading can be set for a time the building allows. The freight cost depends on the volume and is calculated for each order.

A curve needs a different cut from a straight run

Fabric behaves differently over a curve, and with the wrong distribution it wrinkles after a few months. On rounded sections we lay the seams along the line of the curve, not across it.

That is a difference you do not see at handover, only after the first season. For rounded shapes we therefore make a pattern of their own instead of stretching fabric from a straight run.

Lead time on an order outside the standard

We agree the deadline individually after measuring and once the drawing is approved, because it depends on how much changes from the base model. Adjusting the width by five centimetres is one thing, a new back shape against a curved wall quite another.

For guidance: normal production to measure is four to six weeks from the moment payment is registered. Before production we ask for at least 50 % of the order value against a proforma invoice.

You approve the drawing of the module layout before production

The quotation follows the drawing. You approve both before the order goes into production, not along the way.

That way it does not end with a sofa that is a few centimetres too big for the real room. Corrections on paper cost time, corrections on a finished piece cost the piece.

Unusual rooms we have already done

At Krzywy Domek in Sopot we rebuilt PARIS so that it follows the curve of the wall, and we measured that curve ourselves on site before production. At House of Hot Pot & BBQ in Poznań we made a half round sofa that sits like a horseshoe around a circular table, so that every guest is the same distance from the plate.

At Restbotanica in Katowice we started with fabric samples and prototypes in the finished room, and production of the curved version only began once the prototype had been approved.

We have been in the furniture trade since 2005, with more than 50 deliveries a year, so we have seen most of the layouts a serving venue can have: from sloping roofs to low attic ceilings and rooms with a load bearing column in the middle.

What to send to get started

Ideally a floor plan, in any format. If there is none, a sketch with wall measurements and photos from each side of the room will do, especially of whatever causes the trouble: the column, the alcove or the sloping wall.

Tell us the width of the entrance door too, and whether the venue is at street level. The minimum order is one linear metre: 968 27 586.
