MONACO MAX is the most representative of the MAX variants in the class with 70 cm depth. The back is 120 centimetres and buttoned in large rectangular fields laid in four rows.

Here the height and the buttoning work together: the piece divides the room like a partition and is at the same time its most decorative element.

Four rows instead of three

The field in the buttoning keeps the same size whatever the back height, so when the back is raised from 95 to 120 cm a fourth row is simply added. The net does not stretch, and the proportion of the individual field stays the same.

That shows that height changes the scale of the piece, not its drawing. The same pattern simply takes up more of the wall.

Two functions in one piece

One hundred and twenty centimetres rises above the head of a seated guest, so two runs set back to back form separate booths without your putting up any partition. The large covered surface also damps the sound, and in a room with hard surfaces that directly means a conversation at the table is possible.

The buttoning adds character to this. If you are looking to divide the room but do not want it to look like a technical screen, this model brings the two together.

All three have a 120 cm back, 70 cm depth and a seat at 43 cm. The 200 kroner between the cheapest and the most expensive is a difference in the work on the stitching, not in the construction.

Where the model makes sense

VIP areas, hotel lobbies, function rooms and restaurants in the upper bracket, that is, places where the piece should be visible and raise the standard of the interior.

It makes no sense in a room with a low ceiling, because a back at this height comes close to the soffit and feels oppressive. Nor in a venue with strongly patterned decor, where large buttoning lays yet another drawing on top of the existing ones. There the smooth NICEA MAX at the same height does better.

Fabric and lead time

The curved fields create their own play of light, so a patterned material will compete with them. On this model plain fabrics work best, and velour shows the effect more clearly than faux leather.
