PARMA II has the back sewn in a squared pattern. It is the most decorative finish in this family, and the only one that gives the seating a clear texture you can see from the other end of the room.

Apart from the back nothing changes. Depth 50 cm, total height 80 cm, seat 43 cm and the same construction as in the base variant.

What the squared pattern does

The squared pattern is a dense net of small square fields running through the whole height of the back. Each field catches the light at its own angle, so the surface stops being a uniform panel. Over a long run along a wall this is the only way to keep the piece from reading as a covered ledge, without moving to a sharper colour.

The pattern also works on the proportions. It divides the back into repeated fields, so a run of six metres looks composed instead of being one long block. In a small room that can take away the feeling of tightness.

The same construction comes in four back finishes, and it is those, not the measurements, that decide the character of the piece.

Measurements and price

The difference against PARMA is 200 NOK per linear metre, and it comes from the stitching itself, not from the material. PARMA has a smooth back, and the squared pattern is extra work in the sewing.

When the squared pattern makes sense, and when it does not

It works where the seating is visible and should add something: a room with a plain interior, a run along the window, a space held in one colour where the piece is the only element with texture.

It makes no sense in a room that is already richly decorated, with patterned wallpaper or a mural, where the squared pattern lays a third pattern on top of two existing ones. There the smooth back of BASIC or PARMA does better.

The choice is purely aesthetic. Cleaning, comfort and durability are the same across the family.

Construction and fabric

Foam with a density meant for contract use, identical in all four PARMA variants. The stitching concerns the finish of the back and does not change the comfort of the seat.

Fabric for serving venues has, with us, an abrasion resistance of at least 40 000 Martindale, and most of the range sits above 100 000. With a squared pattern the texture of the fabric itself plays against the seams, so a smooth faux leather gives a different result from a velour with structure.

Lead time and ordering

Production to measure takes roughly four to six weeks, counted from the moment payment is registered. We do not offer fast delivery on this variant; that applies to BASIC and PARMA in their base finish.

The minimum order is one linear metre. Before we put it into production we ask for at least half the value against a proforma invoice: 968 27 586.
