PARMA MAX restaurant sofa in a venue

PARMA MAX is PARMA with the back raised to one hundred centimetres. The shape stays angular, the back flat and without seams, and the piece still stands on visible round legs.

At that height the seating stops merely dressing the wall and starts dividing the room. The back reaches the neck of a seated guest and blocks the view of the next table.

Two routes to a back of one hundred centimetres

The catalogue holds two models with a back of 100 cm, and they differ not in height but in the shape of the whole piece.

Model Shape Legs Price from
BASIC MAX rounded, back as a separate cushion low, barely visible 1 700 NOK/linear metre
PARMA MAX angular, back flush with the seat tall, round, visible 2 000 NOK/linear metre

BASIC MAX looks soft and sits low to the floor. PARMA MAX is geometric and lifted, so under the piece you see the floor along the whole run.

The 300 kroner of difference per linear metre comes from the different shape, not from a better construction. Foam, depth and seat are the same in both models.

When a back of one hundred centimetres helps, and when it is in the way

It helps in a large room, where one run should separate the dining area from the passage or the bar, and in venues with high ceilings, where low seating disappears into the space. The guest gets support above the shoulder blades and a sense of sitting screened from the next table.

It is in the way in a cramped room with one window, because the view through the space is broken and the room feels smaller. There PARMA with a back of eighty centimetres does better, with the same shape on a lower line.

A smooth back on a large surface

At one hundred centimetres the back surface is roughly a third larger than in the base variant. A smooth surface at that size shows everything: the texture of the fabric, the way the material catches the light, and every unevenness in what lies beneath.

That has two sides. With a good velour a large uniform surface looks expensive, and that is how it works in hotel lobbies. With a cheap, flat material the same surface underlines exactly that flatness. If you choose PARMA MAX, the choice of fabric matters more than on the models with stitching, which create their own texture.

The alternative is PARMA II MAX, that is, the same shape with a squared back.

Construction and fabric

Foam with a density meant for continuous use, identical across the PARMA family. The taller back does not change the comfort of the seat, but gives support higher up the back.

Fabric for serving venues has, with us, at least 40 000 Martindale, and most of the range sits above 100 000.

Lead time and ordering

Production to measure takes roughly four to six weeks from the moment payment is registered. Fast delivery we have only on BASIC and PARMA in their base finish, so on this model we do not offer it.

The minimum order is one linear metre. Corner elements are measured along the back and charged at the same rate as a straight run: 968 27 586.

Frequently asked questions

What are the measurements of PARMA MAX?

The shape is 50 cm deep and 100 cm tall in total, and the seat sits 43 cm above the floor. We make modules as standard at 1 metre or 1.2 metres.

What separates PARMA MAX from BASIC MAX?

The shape. PARMA MAX is angular and stands on visible legs, BASIC MAX is rounded and sits low. Back height, depth and seat are the same in both. PARMA MAX costs 300 NOK more per linear metre.

What separates PARMA MAX from PARMA?

Purely the back height: 100 cm against 80 cm. Shape, depth, seat and construction are identical.

Does the taller back change the comfort?

It does not change the comfort of the seat, since foam and construction are the same. It does give support above the shoulder blades.

What does PARMA MAX cost?

From 2 000 NOK per linear metre.
