SNAKE 4 is a quarter curve with the back carried along the curve. It is the largest and most expensive module in the system, because a curved shape needs a different cut of fabric and a different frame from a straight run.
Four such quarter curves set together form a full circle. Two make a half curve, and one rounds off the end of a row or puts in a soft turn where a right angle would be too sharp.
Why a curve costs nearly twice as much as a corner
SNAKE 2 turns the row through a right angle and has a square outline, so the fabric lies flat on it, exactly as on a straight run. SNAKE 4 is curved at every single point.
Material stretched over a curve behaves differently from material on a flat surface, and with the wrong layout it wrinkles after a few months. The cut for a shape like that is planned separately, and the seams run along the line of the curve, not across it. On top of that comes a bent frame that has to hold the shape in place.
The price difference against SNAKE 2 is the cost of that work, not of better foam or more expensive fabric.
What you can build from them
| Number of quarter curves | Result |
|---|---|
| 1 | a rounded end to a row, or a soft turn |
| 2 | a half curve, an alcove wrapping a table |
| 3 | a horseshoe, open at one end |
| 4 | a full circle, an island in the middle of the room |
An island of four quarter curves needs no wall. It is set up in an open space: in a retail concourse, in a hotel lobby, in the middle of a large room, where the seating both provides seats and directs the movement around it.
Measurements
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Total height | 80 cm |
| Seat height | 40 cm |
| Depth | 70 cm |
| Shape | quarter circle |
| Price | given in the quotation |
The seat height and the depth are the same as in the other modules in the system, so the curve meets the straight runs without a step.
A ready made curve instead of a curve sewn to measure
We also make rounded seating as pieces sewn for the particular room, starting from models such as PARIS or NICEA. Then we price them individually, because every curve needs its own pattern.
SNAKE 4 is the answer when the rounded shape should be assembled from ready made parts and stay movable. You pay a fixed price per piece instead of an individual assessment, and you know in advance how many quarter curves you need.
Construction, fabric and lead time
Foam meant for continuous use, identical in all SNAKE modules. Fabric for serving venues has, with us, at least 40 000 Martindale, and most of the range sits above 100 000.
On a curved element the choice of material matters more than on a straight one, because the fabric has to lie cleanly over the curve. We put together a sample package for the venue in question.
The lead time is four to six weeks from the moment payment is registered, as for the other modules. How many quarter curves you need we work out in the quotation: 968 27 586.
Frequently asked questions
How many SNAKE 4 modules make a full circle?
Four quarter curves. Two make a half curve, while three make a horseshoe open at one end.
What are the measurements of SNAKE 4?
Total height 80 cm, seat height 40 cm, depth 70 cm. The shape is a quarter circle.
Why does SNAKE 4 cost more than SNAKE 2?
For the work on the curved shape. The cut of the fabric is planned separately, the seams run along the curve, and the frame is bent. The foam and the fabric are the same in both modules.
Does SNAKE 4 connect to the straight elements?
Yes. The seat height of 40 cm and the depth of 70 cm are shared across the system, so the curve runs into a straight section without a step.
What does SNAKE 4 cost?
The price is given in the quotation. SNAKE 4 is the most expensive module in the system, because of the work on the curved shape.
