The club 7 Nebo at Jánská 453/9 in the centre of Brno came to us with a finished idea and one condition: nothing from the catalogue. There we made our own sofas, upholstered walls, an upholstered staircase and tables with RGB lighting. All in a black fabric with glitter that existed in no Polish sample book.

Scope

Element Details
Seating bespoke sofas, drawn for the layout of the room
Walls covered in the same fabric as the furniture
Staircase buttoned panels with lighting
Tables RGB lighting
Fabric black with glitter, sourced from the Turkish market
Lead time 4 weeks from design to finished furniture
Place Brno, Czechia

The fabric did not exist in Poland, so we brought it from Turkey

The customer wanted a black fabric with glitter, and no substitute would do. The deep black gives a calm background, and the glitter throws small reflections under spot and LED lighting. A material with a different weave would have given a different effect, so switching to the nearest equivalent from a local catalogue was not an option.

We hold hundreds of samples, and on most orders we find what the customer is looking for among them. Here we did not, so we sourced the material from the Turkish market. If you have a specific idea about texture or colour, we look into bringing it in from outside before we propose something similar.

Four weeks, even with material sourced abroad

The whole project, from concept to finished furniture, took four weeks. That sits inside the four to six week range we quote for ordinary production to measure, even though here there was one extra step an ordinary order does not have.

Sourcing a fabric extends the order by the time it takes to order and receive it, not by the whole cycle again. We kept the same deadline at Stara Przepompownia in Ostrów Wielkopolski, where 130 linear metres of seating and 22 tables were involved, and at the bakery and café Kaffel in Gliwice with 5.3 metres of sofa. The scale and the difficulty change, the deadline stays in the range.

The upholstery did not stop at the furniture

The same black fabric went on the walls and in the staircase, where we made buttoned panels with lighting. The interior therefore stops looking like something assembled from separate parts.

It also has an effect you do not see in the photo. A soft surface on the wall absorbs some of the sound that hard materials throw back, so at the table it is possible to talk without raising your voice. In a club with music all night that decides whether guests stay at the table or leave after a quarter of an hour.

Upholstering walls we run as a separate service and price individually, because the surface and the division into panels differ every time.

Tables with RGB lighting

The colour of the light can be changed, so the mood of the room can be set to the time of the evening: calmer, warm light to begin with and stronger accents later on. The venue controls it itself, without replacing anything.

Similar tables, but in a different construction and with a top in laminated safety glass, we made at Stara Przepompownia in Ostrów Wielkopolski. Every such piece we price separately, because they differ in size, shape and the way the wiring is run.

Why clubs order furniture made to measure

A finished catalogue piece assumes a rectangular room and walls at right angles. A club is rarely like that, and usually has an identity of its own that cannot be assembled from parts everybody else has too.

On an order made to measure you choose the shape, the fabric and extras such as lighting from the particular space, and we draw sofas, walls and tables as one set. We sew in our own workshop, so a change at the design stage needs no clearing with a middleman.

Frequently asked questions

Do you source a fabric you do not have in your samples?

Yes. For the club 7 Nebo we sourced a black fabric with glitter from the Turkish market, because the Polish sample books had nothing that gave the same effect.

How long did the project in Brno take?

Four weeks from design to finished furniture, including sourcing the fabric from abroad.

Do you upholster walls as well?

Yes, at 7 Nebo we made upholstered walls and a staircase with buttoned panels. Beyond the look it damps the sound reflections, which counts for a lot with loud music.

Do you take orders outside Poland?

Yes. Besides Czechia we have furnished venues in Germany, France and Hungary.

Does a fabric with glitter survive a club?

We choose the material so that it meets the visual requirements and stands up to hard use. Every fabric we propose for serving venues has at least 40 000 Martindale, and most of our range sits above 100 000.
